Mosspit performing to a packed room under warm stage lights

Irish noise. Old stories. New songs.

Mosspit

Mosspit have been touring longer than anyone can reliably account for. The current line-up is louder than most of the previous ones.

Mosspit are an Irish band. That should probably be enough.

Seven musicians, one manager, a van that has seen better decades, and a back catalogue whose provenance becomes increasingly difficult to explain the further back you look.

The current line-up moves between rock, punk, traditional Irish instrumentation, grunge, folk and whatever the song requires.

Finn sings. Gráinne plays guitar like nobody is watching. Bricriu plays bass and should not be encouraged. Balor handles drums and percussion. Morrigan plays fiddle. Peig has the tambourine. Puck has the whistle. Forty Coats says everything is under control.

Listen first

The stories can wait.

Mosspit are writing and recording material shaped by guitars, fiddle, bodhrán, bass, whistle, drums, harmonica and several thousand years of accumulated bad influence.

The music is the part they agree on.

Meet the band

Somewhere on the road

Mosspit move around.

Rehearsals, soundchecks, back rooms, motorways, pubs, stages and places nobody remembers booking. The camera occasionally catches up.

How long has this been going on?

Nobody knows.

There are photographs that make the question uncomfortable. There are posters older than some of the venues. There are names in old line-ups that nobody remembers anymore.

Mosspit have always played. The instruments change. The roads change. The stories change. The band keeps moving.
